Heathlands Care Centre

A summary of our Enter and View visit to Heathlands Care Centre, where we spoke to residents, relatives and staff. Our visit focused on independence and choice. We have shared with commissioners and CQC.

Heathlands is well run; staff are busy and enjoy their roles and working as a team. The manager has made numerous improvements and is well respected by staff and residents and we look forward to the new manager continuing this work.

The large garden gives plenty of space to sit in the shade and there is a covered area for entertainment to take place.

Staff are aware of hydration needs.

Relatives felt that food was good and dietary preferences were taken into account.

Impact – making a difference

The manager has focused on ensuring staff are trained to deal with the individual needs of residents.

Additionally attention has been paid to dementia-friendly lighting and adding fans in corridors for use in summer months.
